Xerox printer drivers and Samba

Did some more testing with the lates global printdrivers.

They are the first driver set from Xerox that installs fine to the server.

Printing works after using the Cisco WAAS-WAFS-Print-Util to fix the missing registry keys.

Can change printer settings on the server without any driver error.

Windows 7 (32/64bit) the driver installs fine and you can do all the setting things.

But if you print, windows tells me it cant be printed after some minutes.

i still hope Xerox will but some effort into drivers that work with a non windows printing server.

For example the Xerox 3635MFP works perfect with the manufacturer drivers from Samsung (Xerox tech told me that they are original from samsung and only labeled by Xerox) with samba as a print server from Windows XP / Windows 7 32/64 bit. With all possible options like secure printing etc.

will there be any driver for new printers like the phaser 6400 that will wotk in a samba server point and print enviorment ?

I tried now everything, the only working driver is a PS driver with the provided ppd file, but there you only have very basic printing options.

Old driver did work nice with a samba server, but all the new drivers do the same bad things -> run programs on the server and / or try to change registry settings on the server which will not work on a samba server.

Would be nice to get some information from Xerox.
