Re: global printer driver global printer driver global printer driver

I have the same problems - with a Workcentre Pro 123 (in the UK)

i.e. Multiple copies, slow as "a very slow thing" to print anything and also finding user profiles bloating out by 50mb (all stuff within a Xerox folder on the clients)

My environment is Windows 2008R2 print server and clients are Windows 2008R2 Citrix servers (XenApp 6).

i think this global driver isnt truly global (i.e. it doesnt support some older copiers...I have some M20i's which ignore whatever setting you specify for paper source - and just seem to grab paper from where-ever!???)

Any ideas on if this is a noted issue with Xerox and that it will be addressed....anyone from Xerox on here??

Re: global printer driver global printer driver global printer driver

Well it was good in theory. It seems that a number of copier say they don't support PCL5 and therefore the driver doesn't deploy to the end user. All very weird as it tested just fine for the admin account. Learnt the hard way when about 100 users screamed that they had lost their printers.

Totally over it! - 12 xerox copiers - FREE to a good home

Re: global printer driver global printer driver global printer driver

Well the PCL5 printer driver seems to work which is great. Will I need to recreate all my printer queues or can I simply change the driver for each printer? I have also noticed that the logon for eash user has slowed since adding the global driver. I can see why as there is a Xerox folder created for each user that contains 8700 files [About 25Mb]

Is there a way of restricting this to just the drivers that I need for the copiers that I am running?

Re: global printer driver global printer driver global printer driver

I have only used the PCL6 driver. The whole idea of the Global driver was to get rid of the postscript driver we are using. The postscript is painfully slow driver and also is not certified by Microsoft. I figured that there would be little difference between the PCL5 and PCL6 driver. I will however, test that theory now.

Thanks

global printer driver global printer driver global printer driver

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

Hi,

We are using the latest version of the global printer driver. The 64 bit driver is installed on a Windows 2008R2 64bit server and 32 bits Windows 7 clients connect to the printer share.

We are using this driver for all our copiers 285s,286s, 236s, 2055s, c6500, c2201,DC1100. I have noticed that the same problem occurs on all copiers regardless of whether they are officially supported or not.

If you print from certain applications [MS Office, filemaker] and request more that one copy of anything you will get three copies printed for each copy requested. If you ask for a single copy, it works just fine. Anyone else in the same boat?
