My Phaser 6180N recently developed a problem it never had:
Setup:
1. The printer is connected to the router via Ethernet.
2. My main computer (Mac, OS 10.6.8) is also wired to the router via Ethernet, while all other Macs connect over wireless network.
Problem:
When my main computer is shut off, none of the other computers finds the printer--it's just not there. Likewise, when my main computer is on and only connected to the network via ethernet. However, as soon as I turn on Airport (wireless network) on my main Mac, the printer lights up on all other Macs that connect over the wireless network. Thus, in order to print from these machines, I must leave my main computer on, and connected to the wireless network.
It never was like this--what could have caused it all of a sudden? Why wouldn't the other machines find the printer when it's plugged directly into the router?
Many thanks for everyone's suggestions!

Hi,
The other Macs are not seeing the printer because they are using your main Mac to print through
it. Your main Mac is sharing the printer to the others. You have to install your printer in all Macs so they can send prints directly to the printer and not through the main Mac.
The only thing you need to do is to go to system Preferences -> Print & scan -> Add -> IP -> and fill up all the information. In the IP write your printers ip, In the protocol chose LPD, in the Queue write ps and in the Use select the printer driver.

Rui
Many thanks, Rui--that did it!
