poor print quality

Product Name: VersaLink C7020/C7025/C7030 Multifunction Printer
Operating System: macOS 10.15 - Catalina

Hi

Just bought a versalink 7020 to replace an OKI c841as I wanted an all in one. Not sure if I am missing some settings, but the quality is better on the OKI. I have tried different types of media, and made sure the quality is at the highest setting, but to no avail.  Whats strange is that the type on the startup page is a smaller font, but looks better than my printouts which have a larger font.

I am printing from Illustrator, all type is converted to curves.
