Re: "USB Port Driver" for old computers

How do I use the PPD file in other computers?

Re: "USB Port Driver" for old computers

A link to "the install" (program) appears to be what I need.  Perhaps there is some way to download the applicable EXE file or an ISO file with that included?

Re: "USB Port Driver" for old computers

I don't know what PPD files are.  Is there some application or driver that uses them?  The problem is not the information to send to the printer, but the port to send it by USB not appearing in the settings.

Re: "USB Port Driver" for old computers

Hi vlsjekn,

I understand.  Are you able to use the PPD file? I do not have a Win 95/98 system to try this on, so if the PPD file does not work please call your local support centre for additional information.

Thanks,

The linked page does not include a listing for "8400_English_PS_Driver."

Re: "USB Port Driver" for old computers

"The following instructions should resolve problems experienced when installing a Phaser 8400 printer on a USB port in Windows 98/Millenium (ME).

...

Note: Windows 98/ME prevents software (like the Automatic Installer) from sending query messages to a USB port if there is already a printer installed to that port. Therefore, it is very important step 1 be performed.

    1. ...
    2. Start the install. Once no other printers are using USB ports, the Automatic Installer can do it's job repairing a damaged or incomplete USB installation. There are a couple ways to start the installation depending on if the CD-ROM is being used or if the downloaded file is being used.

      • If the CD-ROM is being used, insert the Printer Installer and Utilities CD-ROM into the computer. When the CDs menu appears, click Install Printer Driver.
      • If the downloaded file is being used from the Software and Drivers web site, select the link for the 8400 English PS Driver.
      • When prompted to Open or Save the file, choose Open.

    3. Read the License Agreement and click I Agree to continue (See Fig. 1).

Re: "USB Port Driver" for old computers

When I try the link/search for the download on the Software and Drivers web site, it says "No products match your search."
