I have a Xerox WorkCentre 7970 configured to require a user ID via the "xerox standard accounting" setup. This works fine from Windows 7 and from OS X Sierra, but not from Yosemite. Under Yosemite, the only place where the accounting options are available is in the print dialog that pops up when you actually try to print something. From there, I can select "Xerox Features", "Advanced", "Accounting", and I can make changes, but those changes disappear the next time I print something. There doesn't seem to be any way to save default accounting settings. The version number of the driver is 3.121.0 1854.
How can I make this work? Is there a utility like the Linux "xeroxprtmgr" that I can use?

All Xerox printers have it turned on in the same manner within the Apple ecosystem since Mac OSX 10.6.
Just enable CUPS (Which is basically MS Windows Printing Preferences), then do this
Open a web browser and go to “127.0.0.1:631” , Then select “Printers” at the upper right
Then select the printer from the “Queue name” at the left
Change the dropdown box from “Administration” to “Set default options”
Select the “Advanced” link
Scroll down to the Accounting settings and set the defaults, then select “Set defaults” at the bottom of the page
The driver will now have the default set, you should reboot as some apps will hold previous settings until you do.
(With 10.8 and 10.10 the right-side scroll bar may not appear, just click in the white area and hit the down arrow on the keyboard.)
When you get the error about enabling CUPs on its webui just put what is in quotes into the Terminal then reload the page.
When it asks you for the login info it should be the same as your mac login, it has no relation to Xerox or any other printer.
I have the same issue with Xerox B9125. But there is no advanced in the cup interface.
