Re: Configuration settings (specifically Accounting) is grayed out on server with global driver

Just wanted to confirm that disabling Bi-Directional Communication does indeed allow most options to be changed.

Hi Joe,

Thanks for the response. After trial and error from a few weeks ago, I found that the settings did take effect automatically in the printer configuration if made via the Xerox Centreware by connecting to the Xerox IP address. What is strange is that when the printer is off (like during a reboot cycle) the settings become available to toggle if Bi-Directional is stll set to automatic.

Once we turned on accounting and service tracking, a reboot is what made the Xerox respond correctly and prompt for codes.

Your solution probably works, but I didn't need to test it after I discovered the above.

Thanks.

It isn't the driver, it is the Bidirectional, all those settings are updated by the copier, so you need to disable that

That will make most options available, to get access to the Accounting ones you just need to change the dropdown to not "none"

Configuration settings (specifically Accounting) is grayed out on server with global driver

Hello all,

We have a Windows Server 2008 print server with a lot of Xerox machines configured using the Xerox GPD PS V3.3.347.6.0 (and some using the PCL 6 equivalent) as this was the latest global driver version up until the end of June 2014. The major problem we have noticed is that a all of the machines have the Configuration Settings grayed out within the printer properties. I am an admin on the server and I am logging in with my admin credentials (AD credentials). I can' t update to the latest driver yet, as changing the driver will affect a couple thousand users.

I am trying to change the Accounting settings for some printers and cannot because the option is grayed out.

I have this problem with 58xx and 78xx series Xerox multifunctions.

The firmware for those are updated to the latest (072.190.004.09101 for the 58xx and 072.010(&040).004.09100 for the 78xx series).

We underwent a Xerox refresh recently and was recommened by the Xerox Analysts to use the GPD instead of the machine specific driver, which we did.

Is there a setting or something that has to be change to allow modifiying configuration settings?

I cannot log into the server with a local admin user, so that is out.

Thanks.
