I am having the same issue with the Altalink B8170 MFP. Please advise if there is a solution to this problem. I need to be able to set up individual users on the machine with a permanent password and username.
Thanks.
We are having the same issue with a B8055 that recently had its firmware updated by a Xerox tech. This was not a problem with the older firmware.
Since users cannot change their now temporary passwords at the device console, and can't access the device Web GUI since we restrict access to it for security purposes, users have no way to log in to the device to make copies.
This requires admins to sit at the web GUI and log in separately as each user and change the temporary password to a new password which then must be sent to each user.
This is a huge mess, and really a regression from the behavior in the previous firmware.
Why not at least allow the user to change the temporary password from the device console?!
Hello Ethan.

I'm an admin for a Xerox AltaLink C8055, when I import or manually create a User into the database it only creates a temporary password.
Is there anything I can do to make these passwords permanent other than going to the IP address and doing so, which would be a lot for the 80+ clients using the machine.
