Reset Admin Password on Xerox Work Centre 7830

Sorry mwehle, you will need to have the device Altbooted to completely restore it to factory defaults.

If you can't log in as admin after the admin has been reset, it would imply a different authentication method was enabled.

If you are lucky, it will just be the machine set to a different authentication, in which case CWIS will allow the default credentials, then you can change the methods back to local from there.

But if not, a complete Altboot is the only option.

From xerox I got the feature key. I entered this key at the feature key screen. The response was "The system administrator password has been reset to the factory defaults.". Nevertheless, it is not possible to log in with the default user admin and password 1111.

What else can I do? Is it possible to perform a hard reset?

It didn't change by itself, somebody changed it.

Call Xerox to get it reset, there is no way it will get reset on this forum, what would be the point of locking down a machine with an admin account if any random person could just ask and have it reset?

Xerox has no idea who the admin of a machine is, so for a Workcenter, 98% will get wiped out to out of box configuration to reset the password just to make sure someone who is not supposed to have admin access or is not supposed to see the settings on the device doesn't get to.

 will request the machine serial number and current copy count.

The Welcome Center generates a 12 digit Feature Key number.

1. Press the Machine Status button, then Tools tab.

2. Select the General feature, then Feature Installation.

3. Enter the Feature Key on the Feature Key screen to reset the Administrator credentials to the default values ( admin and 1111).

I like to request you for Reset Administrator password of xerox WC-7830 ( I forget my Admin Password).

I can not enter Administrator Mode for reconfiguring the device. ( Machine Model No: WC-7830, Serial No: 3912322148, Total Impression: 54106 Pages)
