Thank you for your response, I will look into that and try to update to a later version.
We are using our own internal SMTP Server, the admin sent a me a section of the server log files where it says that our printer is still using TLS1. For now it is still possible to send, but it will be disabled in the future.
I amend what I said originally. Do update your system software. While reviewing a different post I found a better TLS versions document that states that your model received support for TLS 1.2 in a system software release from 2017.
The system software version on your machine is the latest version that you will find posted on the Xerox support site but it is far from the latest available version. That version is from 2016 while the latest version (075.010.020.20500) was released just a few weeks ago on August 13th, 2020. If a system software update will solve your problem you can download it from the link below.
Be sure to read any included documentation if you're going to update. You may require a pre-upgrade patch or an intermediate software version. If you use the included java based update utility it will submit any required files for you.
TLS 1.2 is supported in your current version of system software though. I checked a .pdf that I have which lists the state of TLS versions in various Xerox machines and yours lists no minimum software level. Some models do not have a toggle for TLS versions and it shouldn't be necessary for an SMTP server. The device should auto-negotiate and use the highest version available.
Might I ask what email provider you are trying to use and what error you're getting when testing? I suspect that this is not TLS related. If your version of system software has a setting under the encryption section of the SMTP settings for "validate server certificate" ensure that the checkbox for that is unchecked. When that setting was introduced it was defaulted to on and it caused a lot of people to be unable to send email when enabled.
we have installed the latest firmware (073.010.075.34540) on our WorkCenter 7835 device, according to another support article the option to enable TLS 1.2 should now be available, but we cannot find anything.
We have configured the "SMTP (E-Mail)" settings to use STARTTLS, but an option to set it to 1.2 is not available, also in "Security"->"Encryption" I don't have a "TLS Encryption" menu like it is available on other devices (see https://forum.support.xerox.com/t5/Copying-Faxing-Scanning/WC7845-TLS-1-2/td-p/225650?lightbox-messa...).
How can we enable TLS 1.2 on our device??
