Thank you for the information. The printer was previously on 073.040.035.28000 and when I searched for the latest update on xerox's driver page is said 073.040.075.34540 was the latest firmware from 2016. I guess Xerox needs to update that page with the newer firmware downloads.
I used the link you supplied and installed 073.040.068.33100 using the tool installer, and everything functions again as it should. Just weird that the number look like a lower version than what I installed before. I guess I just don't understand the versioning they have. Thank you!
It is possible to downgrade, but it is destructive, you have to Wipe the device when doing it with what is called an Altboot.
Getting old firmware isn't easy though, Xerox doesn't archive firmware publicly, the latest links go to the latest firmware, so the link you got the 073.XXX.075.34540 link is the same one that would have gotten the previous version which was 072.XXX.004.09100. The new one replaces the old. So to get archive versions, you pretty much need to call Xerox and get a tech out to do it, tell them what one you want and they can grab it from an internal Xerox FTP site.
SPAR links do the same thing, the latest spar link always goes to the latest version, which as of this post, will be 073.XXX.068.33100, which is 17 versions newer than what you are running now, and probably fixes the issue you are having. If the printer was updated through CWIS, or if a clone file was used, I would suggest upgrading it to the latest with the tool installer method.
If you have a bug/glitch, that update will fix it (There is no way these printers haven't been able to authenticate since 2015 when the firmware you installed was released). Check the attachment, there have been quite a lot of Authentication things found and fixed in those 17 updates.
Plus, the new firmwares will allow you to do a Network trace (Wireshark) and you will be able to see what is causing the authentication issue on the LAN, which will probably end up being that the printers hostname changed in the update and broke its certificate
Hello, I recently updated the firmware on our WC 7845 to 073.040.075.34540.
Since doing the upgrade, we can no longer authenticate with our domain controller. We use smart card authentication for secure printing. When we try to login, we get "an authentication error has occured" error. The other WC 7845's that haven't been upgraded are working still.
Is there a way to downgrade the firmware back to the original version it had before upgrading? If so, where can I download the .dlm files? The xerox support page for the printer only has the current version I listed above.
Thank you for any help!
