Sorry for misunderstanding your first post (I was in a hurry). Of course it is better to change the default admin password for the reason that you have mentioned.
So, there is no security issue with leaving this machine with its default user of admin and password of 1111?
Hi,
After upgrading at the latest firmware the administrator password will be the machine serial number. After introducing serial number you can change it for default (1111). This is due in according with a law of California.

We have several WorkCentre 7855's in our office. After doing a search on the internet I discovered that I can add/delete e-mails for favorates which is what I was looking for. In addition, I could make many other changes remotely with just using the printer's IP address and the default username and password.
I notified our internal IT department and nothing was done.
I'd like to verify with the forum why using the defalut username and password is a bad thing so I can relay this to our IT department. PLEASE dump your suggestions on me of what I should tell our IT department.
