Hi
Found the solution, in regards to Windows.
It is a windows problem.
When changing an account name, should run netplwiz, making sure the username for that profile is also changed.

Hi,
New firmware version sent to you as a private message.
When you write a post you will see below "attachments Browse" button. Zip the file and do the attachment.
Thanks
Rui
Changing those settings had no effect. Does it make a difference that I'm sending RAW data format to the LPR port? I don't see any way to change this in the printer driver - there is no LPR choice anywhere outside of the port being sent to.
System Software Version 071.190.103.05401
The same problem exists on all five 5875/45 devices we now have. It wasn't happening on any of the 5600 devices we previously had - they all printed the Novell username all the time, without us apparently doing anything.
Not sure how to post the PDF Print file ...
Hi,
You can not change the user that is sent via LPR. This protocol get the user name from the windows and send it to the printer together with the print file.
Before we can continue, please change this in the printer:
Install a port as LPR as you did before.
Go to this page and set the option "PDL banner page....". This setting will overwrite the jobname that is sent via LPR to the one from the driver.
I don't know what will happen in your case, maybe will do nothing because the user variable is the same, so lets try it only in the pc where you created the LPR port.
Also please send me a print file. Open a PDF and before print, set to on the option "print to file". Instead sending to the printer, the Adobe Reader will save the file. Zip the file and send or post it here, so I can analyze.
Also please tell me what firmware version do you have on the WC58xx

Rui
"the xerox device grabs the job owner that cames with the LPR protocol and that is used to identify the jobs"
Where is this set? What job owner is sent with the LPR protocol?
To be honest, I can't even see where the Owner is set in LPR. LPR Queue Name? That's not correct. Manipulating that has no effect on the Owner showing up at the printer. There is nothing else to configure when setting the port to LPR from RAW.
Please advise.
Update: I simply changed the port type from RAW to LPR. This had no effect on printing, even after installing UNIX print services. The Windows workstation still showed up as the Owner.
Is there a registry hack I can use as a bandaid? To set the Owner explicitly?
Thanks for your reply, Rui. It appears that ALL of our workstations are using RAW. I'm not even sure how to deploy the printers to use LPR. My own workstation is Windows 7, and I followed the Microsoft instructions for adding the extra networking components required - LPD Print Service and LPR Port Monitor. I then deleted the printers and reinstalled, and nowhere can I see an option to use LPR. Where is this set in the Printer Properties?
In any case, we still have the problem that all of the workstations are sending RAW, but some of them still show the Novell username as the Owner, while others are sending their Windows username - still others are sending the Workstation name (!).
Let me know what I can try next.
Thanks, again
Sean
