Re: XSA, work centre 7855, mac OS yosemite 10.10

It should be the Macs IP, but 127.0.0.1:631 will work, just cut&paste that into safari.

Apple started disabling it in 10.10 and above, but it literally tells you what to do to enable it, the command will be in quotes on the webpage, similar to 'cupsctl WebInterface=yes' (Not certain that is correct so verify on yours first)

Then simply open Terminal (Click the magnifying glass upper right of your screen, type "terminal" and hit enter)

Type that quote minus the quotes exactly (case sensitive) and hit enter.

Refresh the webpage and you will be in.

To apply settings you will need to type in the username and password to the Mac for it to work.

Re: XSA, work centre 7855, mac OS yosemite 10.10

CUPS is the location within Linux/OSX where you set printing preferences/defaults, it is the only way to do so.

Other wise you would have to have set your options in a preset, and since Apple took away the ability to assign a preset as the default preset, it would not apply to a new job, you would have to assign the preset.

As for every application, absolutely not, just the ones I listed and a few others that do not use the system Dialogue when you hit print, the 2 most common are Indesign and Chrome, which both have an entirely different look when you select File > Print than typical applications.

Short answer, do what I linked in the first word of this post, reboot before you try anything for print, then if there is still an issue, report it here.

The newest Universal driver we have available is at this link, I suggest it over the one listed for your device on Xerox.com, pay no attention to the model, the driver is for just about every Xerox device.

Re: XSA, work centre 7855, mac OS yosemite 10.10

thank you for your response.

not sure whats "CUPS"

also, if i understand you correctly, you are saying that for every application that one may want to print from ie word, excel, safari, chrome , explorer  etc i would have to go into the applications and set up the xerox feature, advance, accounting , always promt , save preset??? this seems insane.

if this is the case, than why does the problem still presist on the application (Safari) where the driver was initially "loaded"

respectfully,

Re: XSA, work centre 7855, mac OS yosemite 10.10

I assume you enabled it to prompt via CUPS, the issue you list is what happens when the driver is not actually loaded, so in a program like Chrome you would need to invoke the driver to get a prompt ("Print using System Dialogue") and Indesign ("Printer")

But any application that brings up the system dialogue will/should display the prompt.

XSA, work centre 7855, mac OS yosemite 10.10

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

HELLO,

I work in a management build with a computer lab 9-MAC computer , 500+ users.

we set up XSA on the xerox centre 7855 and downloaded the Mac OS X Print Driver Installer Package 10.10, 10.11, 10.12 on each individual computer so when someones wants to print the must enter their pin code(user ID). YES, I configured the drivers. yes i uploaded the uses and limits to the IP Address.

the problem is one XSA is active and some tries to print...sometimes the promt to enter the pin code appears...sometimes is does not.

there seems to be a lag time between hitting "print" and the window to enter your pin to appear, most times the window doesn't appear at all.

has anyone else encounter this problem?? any suggesting will be greatly appreciated.
