Unfortunalety with your description I am not able to access what technology/ application is in use. Therefore not able to understand how the device is configured to work with it and make possible to "machine reads the credits they have left and make photocopies leaves until they run out".

- What is the name of the application managing the card credit/debit?
- How it the device (Xerox printer) configured to communicate and deduct values from the card?
- Based on your anwser, "They put the card into the card that has coupled the machine reads the credits" This might be a paystation. Can you confirm the name of the product.
Quick anwser would be that it is possible to use accounting, if its not in use by other methods. Internal Accounting and Xerox Standard Accounting, would be internal option to each device. Management of this solution is done on a device basis and it is not centralized. With this, you would be able to account the number of copies and prints done for each user/group.
To use this you will have to create users on the device. This users would have to authenticate on the device before any action in order for the device to detect who to associate the activity with.
