It should not impact performace.  Speed of LPR vs RawIP is essentially the same.

It seems to work now with LPR/LPD Port only, i disabled the RAW port on the printer itself. Do you know if this have some downside on the actual printing quality etc? Thanks for all help =)

Re: Usage Tracking: Activation failed, system error please try again later.

For an AltaLink the following are common:

WebUI print submission – Guest

System Reports (e.g. config sheet or confirmation sheets) – System User

Native Jobs (Copy, Scan, Fax)  with no logged on user – Local User

Print job submission were no username is in the PDL of the job or no username comes over in the protocol – Remote User

VersaLink would be similar, but might be slightly different.

Something like a Received Fax would not have an associated user, so would end up with a generic user like ‘System User’.  Same for fax confirmation sheets.

Print jobs could end up without a user name embedded in the job if the conditions are right.  For example, if you use the Xerox Global Print Driver set to basic mode (meaning it’s generic PS or PCL with no Xerox added PJL stuff at the top) AND the job is sent via RawIP (port 9100), then the user name cannot be embedded in the job and it does not come over in the protocol.  So the result would be a generic user account getting assigned to the job.

I would make sure LPR is enabled on all of your printers.  By default our solution uses an auto mode for printing, where it will try LPR first and if that’s not available, it will fall back to RawIP.  (LPR includes the job owner in the protocol).  However, this would not enforce LPR printing if they were doing the submission outside of XWC.

Maybe you could try disabling RawIP on the printers themselves?  This would ensure XWC is only using LPR and would also esnure that someone printing outside of XWC (e.g. standard Windows printing via the TCPIP Port monitor) to using LPR…so the username is included with the job.

Hi!

It seems that accounting is working? But it says "remote user" in the logs.

Best Regards

Hi!

Now it looks like this this was before i enabled anything. Skärmbild 2024-02-10 093443.png

Maybe its working now? I saw that this two was disabled under WebServices "Authentication & Accounting". Should i enable them? Skärmbild 2024-02-10 093633.png

Re: Usage Tracking: Activation failed, system error please try again later.

I would start by making sure all of the EIP web services are enabled on the printer (using the WebUI).

If it's an AltaLink:  Properties > Connectivity > Setup > HTTP > Web Services.

If it's an VersaLink: Apps > EIP Settings > EIP Web Services.

I would also try disabling Usage Tracking by itself and saving...wait for it to take effect.  Then enable Usage Tracking by itself and saving.

If you still have trouble, please submit a support ticket for more help:
