V4 mono defaults

Sorry, I don't know that detail.  Microsoft does provide less capabilities in their OS when using V4 drivers.  So it may be due to a MS limititation in the API they provide to driver developers.

It was so easy with the V3 driver to disable the colour option(s) at server level so the deployed BW queue was only BW.

Any reason why this feature wasn’t carried over to V4 as it was a brilliant way to roll out one mono queue and one colour queue using the same driver type?

Hi,

I am not aware of any way to force mono via the driver.  You can set a default, but the end user can override it.  Two possible options:

1. Use the Xerox XML Driver Configuration tool to create a configuration file used by Xerox drivers, which has an enforced mono value.  (You will need to manage the deploymen of the file to end user systems).

2. Use XWS to set a rule which enforces mono.  So even if the user submits as color, this would get overriden at release time.

Looking for your help please.

We have installed WorkPlace Suite for 50 devices and have rolled out a B/W queue and a Colour queue using the V4 Pull Print Driver.

The customer wants to ‘disable colour’ completely on the mono queue which has always been possible in other driver configurations.

The customer will not accept a mono queue where users can select colour as it renders it pointless in their eyes.

The driver and ports have been deployed via print management.

We used to use V3 and it was easy to enable BW only. I can do it with the V4 driver and the companion app on PC but on the print server it’s not giving the option I need.

Please advise how we can configure this in this driver or another V4 driver if possible?
