Thanks for your clarification on versioning. Little confusing about the version numbering.
While I thought that 073.110.075.34540 was the newer version of software, the one on the support site, 073.110.019.14200, is the newer version. The 9 in 019 is for the year. Therefore 073.110.019.14200 is the latest release software. Looking into the past, it looks like 073.110.075.34540 is the release software. Therefore, you should be all set.
Thank you for your answer. I did the uninstallation of the App Gallery app from the devices internal webpage.
Anyway i have success the installation now with the older firmware 073.110.019.14200 and the App Gallery 5.4. I made a flash USB and upload the dlm file and install the firmware from the printer USB port.
I am not sure why 073.110.075.34540 didnt work with App Gallery 5.4 on my printer. Maybe better to go with the newer firmware? But it is strange this firmware not exist on Xerox support page:

Hi @jensa, App Gallery does run on the 6655 and 073.110.075.34540 is the latest general release firmware for the 6655.
When you uninstalled the old App Gallery App, did you do it from the device internal webpage, Properties, Services, Customer Services, WEblet Managment, or did you do it from the App Gallery extension? If it was from the App Gallery extension, please try from the device internal webpage. The old application may not have been uninstalled propery. While that's not common, I did have that happen to me on my 6655.
I bought a used Xerox WorkCentre 6655 with system software version 073.110.075.34540 installed. One reason I bought this printer was to use the App Gallery to scan to cloud. So I tried to configure the preinstalled App gallery from the printers internal web portal. The version of the Xerox App Gallery was an old one in the printer (1.0). When I tried to use it from the printer i got an error message "The app server gallery could not be found". After some search on Xerox forum I found that the old App try to connect to "appgallery.external.xerox.com" which seems to be wrong because Xerox changed the address to "appgallery.services.xerox.com". The suggestion was to uninstall the app from the printer and instead install a new one from "appgallery.services.xerox.com" with "Xerox Device Connector". The installation worked well and I have now version 5.4 of Xerox App Gallery installed in the printer.
The problem now is when I try to use App Gallery from the printer I got another error message "Your device needs a software update to run this app. Using your PC, go to: http://www.xerox.com/SoftwareUpgradeRequired"
If i go to the adress http://www.xerox.com/SoftwareUpgradeRequired the page suggest me to download this version https://www.support.xerox.com/en-us/product/workcentre-6655/content/137419 (073.110.019.14200). It looks like an older version than the printer already has installed (073.110.075.34540)? Anyway I have tried to upgrade the printer with the suggestion version but it failes with a message in the printer "completed with errors" and the old software version is still in use.
I havent found a way to downgrade or make a factory reset of the printer to install the above suggestion version. Also i can not find the version now installed in the computer (073.110.075.34540) on Xerox support sites. Wondering how anyone could have been installed that version.
It seems really hard to make this printer work with App Gallery. Has anyone success? Feels like I should buy another printer.
