Re: browse and print app?

Hi, Fabio.

I'm glad that the Print From URL app is looking promising.

Yes, it supports printing only, but you may want to try the Scan to Shared Folder app for a scanning option.  Use the Scan to Multi-Destination app from the Create app screen.  The wizard will prompt you for your Shared Folder information, once you start building your app.  This app offers the option to save the access credentials in the app and they are not exposed at the device.

When you have some time, give this one a try. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Thank  you,

Re: browse and print app?

ok, tested it, it can be an internal IP, doesnt need to be public

so thats a good thing, no port forwarding needed on router!

but offcourse , only limited to print ready files, Pdf, jpeg

but this is indeed now verry interesting!

Re: browse and print app?

ok, clear, well gonna try tomorrow the print form url setup

should be easy to setup, just install an IIS on a computer, create a site, enable folder browse , that should be it

but doesnt the EIP app not work with a local IP? since its also a local HTTP server ? both machine and IIS is on same network? why must it be a public HTTP ?

Re: browse and print app?

Hi, Fabio.

The Print from URL and Scan to Shared Folder credentials that these apps are able to store are Network credentials and therefore, usually the same for everyone that can access the repositories.  The Cloud apps have a different set of log in credentials for each user which makes it difficult to manage in the apps.  There would need to be a unique app for each user and then a way to manage their log in and credentials at the device.  This is what the Xerox Workplace Suite and Xerox Workplace Cloud solutions have solved.  They offer the credentials management piece for each user of the device.

Please let me know if you have any trouble creating/configuring the apps for testing tomorrow.  I'd be happy to help.

Thank you,

Re: browse and print app?

ok, gonna test tomorrow, but what i already saw

when you create a template , print form url, you can define credentials like user/password

why isnt that possible on cloud storage? would be so much easer? then we dont need to create an webserver for "print from url'

Re: browse and print app?

Ok, I can manage ..
So it's needs to be a public IP, not a local one?
Since eip is also on local mfp??

And also folder browse needs to be enabled then on the webserver?

Re: browse and print app?

Hi, Fabio.

Yes, you are correct.  The Print from URL is an http folder set up/accessible via a public website.

If you have any questions setting it up and/or configuring it, just let me know.  It's been a little while since we set ours up, but we can certainly find information for you.

I hope your testing goes will tomorrow.

Thank you,
